Jonathan Joy (owner/operator) teaches the Natural Resources Technician diploma program for the College of the North Atlantic in Bonavista. He has over twenty years experience in both education and conservation.

Jon has a B.Sc. in Ecological Science and a M.Sc. in Fisheries Biology.  He has completed several avian surveys for proposed wind farms in the province and volunteers to do bird surveys for Environment Canada. Jon has also identified cephalopod (squid and octopus) remains from the stomachs of marine mammals including sperm whales, northern bottlenose whales, dolphins and porpoise.  

Jon has been a member of the Discovery Trail Ground Search and Rescue Team since 2007.  

Brenda Taylor, Elliston, Newfoundland

Brenda Taylor (interpreter) is a graduate of the Fish and Wildlife Technician and Natural resource Technician programs from the College of the North Atlantic. After completing her diplomas she gained employment as a bird monitoring technician for a proposed wind farm in the Bonavista area.  

Brenda is from Raleigh on the Great Northern Peninsula.  Before she moved to Bonavista she worked as a grading inspector in the fishing industry. 

Brenda is a member of the Discovery Trails Ground Search and Rescue Team and the St. John’s ambulance Brigade. Her interests include hiking, bird watching, fishing and sewing.
